Yesenia

The beautiful young lady in the photo needs your prayers.  Her name is Yesenia; we call her Yesi (pronounced like Jessie) and she has been in rehab for approximately three months.  Last Wednesday afternoon I got a call from Grace, the director of the rehab center, telling me that she and Yesi needed me to meet them and spend some time with them.  So, the three of us went to lunch when they informed me that Yesi has cancer and the prognosis may not be great.  Her mother died of the same cancer and Yesi also had a bout with it about 6 years ago.  She had the cancer in her stomach at that time and after chemo and radiation she survived...until now, because it has come back and now it is in two places.  She is extremely anemic so the doctors have given her until June 28th to get better.  At that appointment they will also give her a more complete diagnosis and treatment plan. She has already said that if the doctors tell her she has less than a 60-70% chance of beating the cancer, she will not opt for treatment but will spend what time she has left feeling as good as she can for as long as she can, enjoying her family and friends.  But we know our God is not a God of percentages, don't we?  He can (and will) do whatever He wants.  Please pray with me that the Lord's PERFECT will will be done.  I just can't imagine this amazing woman losing her life so soon after she has become a Christian - her testimony is such an amazing story and I would love for her to write a book of her life and how she came to faith.  She spent the next 4 days with me at my condo, trying to take it all in, praying, crying, talking, sitting by the pool, madly cleaning my condo...doing all the things she needed to do without the pressure of the others girls in rehab, at least during the initial days of getting the news.

Her faith (even though she is a very, very new believer - about a month!) is amazing and she is resting in where she will end up when she dies.  But, of course, she wants to stay here and care for her husband and three children.  I could tell you so many amazing stories about Yesi, the way she served food/forgave three men who attacked her just before she arrived at the center, the way she took a two hour bus ride for chemo then returned home, all on her own, when she went thru chemo before...she is truly one in a million!  So, you can understand why I am writing and asking you to pray.

If you can help her with some of the medical expenses this will help her so much.  She does have the generic care the system gives but if she had a little extra, we could get things for her to help her with the process.  Like buying her Soy milk, raisin and other things to get her iron deficiency corrected.  The system did not provide this for her, just told her to come back on June 28th with the problem fixed!  If you can help, please visit my blog (noted below) and click on the Donate button and the money will come to me thru Pay Pal.  Please, please pray about this and consider helping!

I didn't intend to send all the photos below but could not figure out how to send just a couple and wanted to get this sent asap, so please enjoy them all if you have time.

Love in our Lord,

Sally
